Each life is a carefully wrought story, co-authored by you and your Creator, Higher Power, God, the Universe, whatever name you ascribe to the Great I Am. In the beginning was the Word, and through the Word, all that is came into being. Now, through the power of your words, you create anew each and every day. Your thoughts and ideas become words and actions that manifest in the reality in which you move and have your being.
Each life is a story. You choose the plot, the main characters, the scenery, the antagonist, and the genre for your story. You may craft a storyline that is focused and sharp, or let your story develop without much structure. You may even bring challenging people into the story at times, just to remind you of who you are. Contrast can often solidify beliefs because sometimes you have to know what you do not want to clarify what you do want. You may choose to write a mystery, comedy, drama, even a tragedy. YOU decide when it is time to start a new chapter.
What? Me? Yes, YOU. You can, at any time, close a chapter, and start a new one. If you’re tired or bored or dissatisfied with where you are today, or if you are ready for new and exciting horizons, pick up the pen, turn the page, and start to write a whole new chapter.
Like chapters in a book, a chapter in your life can be long or short, funny or sad, uplifting or desperate. But you always have the power to write a new chapter. After all, YOU are the star! YOU are in control. So what are you going to do about that? Do you like your story so far? What would you change? What would you keep? What happens next?
But I’m not in control. That is what some of you may be thinking. I like being a mother, but my kids have all grown up and I’m not needed any more. Or I’m a trailing spouse, I just follow along. Or I’ve just been diagnosed with an awful illness – who wants to write that chapter? Or my wife divorced me, I don’t want to be single, this is not what I expected at this stage in my life. Or marriage is not what I thought it was going to be, this person drives me crazy. Or I hate my job but someone has to pay the bills.
And so on and so on.
And nothing changes if nothing changes.
But change is possible.
